About the PWC

My name is David Holly.  This site is an outcome from some feedback that I received a few years ago that I was being "too negative".  I reacted to that feedback by searching for positive words, adding them to a list, and then trying to incorporate those words into everyday use.  I wrote a small Windows app that would show me three positive words from my list; after I used the words in phone or face-to-face conversations I would click each word and get three more to use and accumulate points for the day.  Then I tinkered with my phone and got it to email a "positive word of the day" to my personal and work email; I would then do my best to use that word several times over the course of the day.

I shared my positive word challenge with some of the people that I work with.  Many of them laughed with me but then would help me use the word at different times and in different ways, expanding the number of times I heard the positive word of the day used greatly.

Now I want to share these positive words with you.  I invite you to join me in my positive word challenge!  You can join in the fun in several ways:  by visiting this site each day; by subscribing to this site's RSS feed; or by subscribing to receive the PWC via email.  You can also see the positive word challenge on Twitter @pwordchallenge.

If you subscribe to the email update your email address will be stored with the FeedBurner service but will not be shared with or sold to anyone, period.  And I promise not to spam you - you will receive the email updates generated from this website only.

I will be posting some extra things on this site, such as ways I and others have used some of the positive words that are posted here.  I may post suggested websites or books to help you develop your prowess in positive word use.  And I will probably post some information on how increasing my use of positive words has benefitted me and those around me.

Many, many thanks to Kelly Brown, who gave me the honest feedback that set me on this pursuit to meet the positive word challenge, and to Greg Hendricks, who trusted me with one of the ways he met the positive word challenge in his life.  They are two of the multitude of people that have helped me become who I am today!
